It's official! I am a 3rd grade teacher. It has been
a long journey to this point and I am so happy to finally have hit this
milestone. It is definitely a beginning and not an end, but looking back I have
come so far. Between having a baby while getting my bachelors degree and
raising a toddler through the rocky roads of my credential, I have finally made
it to here.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I am 25 years old (As
of today…Happy Birthday to me =-)). I have been married to my best friend for
the last 5 ½ years. We have a beautiful
daughter who will be 3 in a couple of months. She started preschool last year
which helped free me up for student teaching. Teaching is my life. I have
volunteered at elementary schools for the past 10 years, I have many family
members who work in the school district, and I worked in an afterschool program
for nearly 4 years. The past two years I have been student teaching and
substitute teaching in two different districts. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and I
can’t believe I can finally say I made it.
I was hired back in June, but they were not quite sure where
they would place me. I was told I would be in either kinder or 6th
grade which although they were worlds apart, I felt like I was able to somewhat
prepare. I have spent this summer making Pinterest boards, TPT wish lists, and YouTube
playlists for the two grade levels. However, I found out 2 days ago that I will
be in 3rd grade. Although I am so excited, I feel completely unprepared.
I have spent these last two days pinning a million new pins to my 3rd
grade boards, making new YouTube playlists, and scouring the many pages of TPT.
I receive my keys on Monday and my journey will officially begin. Please join
me in this wacky adventure as a first year teacher. I love DIY and have so many
ideas to share!
Coming soon a classroom transformation =-) One of my
specialties if I do say so myself!!!
